Below me is a Pinterest image i created to give you an example on how important it is to create images for Pinterest and make people catch there attention on the image and pin it. This guide will go through a step by step breakdown on how to successfully do that !

1.Choosing a Visually Appealing Image Towards Your Target Market

The first thing you can do is use images or infographics that are visually interesting and appealing towards your target audience. For example if your target audience is related to making money online then you want to have imagery related to it. This means having money falling in your background and dollar signs on the front layer of your image. Pinterest is a place for people to come and get inspired, so having an eye catching image compared to your competitors gives you a great advantage and will be valuable to the user and will encourage pinning. When your creating your images, make sure to use your own original content and/or buy stock images to avoid any copyright issues.

2. Building Your Images To An Optimal Size

It is very important to create your images based around Pinterest’s image size restrictions.
Here is a quick display of the pixel sizes of various image locations on Pinterest.com

Profile images: 165 x 165 pixels.
Pins in feed: 238 pixels x adjusted to height.
Expanded pin size: 735 pixels x adjusted to height.
Pin boards complete size: 238 x 284 pixels.
Cover image: 217 x 146 pixels.
Tiny thumbnails: 51 x 51 pixels.

As you create pins, it’s important to be strategic.
Pinterest will re-scale your images according the types. The images/Pins in the Pinterest feed are displayed at 238px wide with the height proportions related to the images original size. If the image is smaller than 192px wide, it will remain on its original size and will be shown on Pinterest with gray bars on either side to fill in the additional space.

Pins can be no smaller than 51 x 51px. If your image is smaller than 735px, the photo will be stretched out to fill in the space necessary, which could cause for some unfortunate bad looking and non appealing images.

To get the best looking pins, its best to use the width of 735px and avoid having and tiny, pixelated or stretched out images. You have the option create your images at any length you desire and a majority of people decide to use long images to give their pin more appearance on the page. However this is not worthy of doing all the time, if your image is too long people might not want to scroll back up to pin. While creating pins on Pinterest change your sizing around every once and a while

3. Using Text To Describe Your Content

when someone sees your pin, they will immediately know what your pin is about. They will not have to look at the description to what the pin is about. This way, viewers will always understand what your pin is, especially if your text description is deleted or changed. Below are examples of text in Pinterest images.

When developing text based images or adding text over your images, you should make sure the text will be big enough to be legible for Pinterest’s thumbnail format. The text could get tiny, so double checking and testing will become key when applying these to your images.

4. Branding Your Images

When something you create anywhere on the internet is your own work, it is a very good idea to brand your content by creating and adding a logo or URL to your Image as this lets the user know where the work came from and also serves as more exposure to your company and its brand. We used this logo as an example.

A majority of people who see your brand could possibly become an engaging prospect into making them look even further for more. This also establishes your website as a professional company.

6. Link Your Pin to Your Content

Linking your Pins to YOUR content is key if your using Pinterest To increase traffic or sell products. You need to make sure that the content you have created on your website also reflects to the Pin itself and the image on your pin your using. It should be either ,

eyecatching
informative
instructive
fun
entertaining
helpful

Many Pinterest users pin images to learn more, see related items, or just to reference linked content. These keywords are what every single Pinterest user are trying to discover and find.
TAKE THESE KEYWORDS SERIOUSLY!
Write these down on a peace of paper and put it right next to you when your creating your next or new content for your website. When someone clicks on an image they generally want to see more great material or learn more about what has been pinned. Most people get discouraged by a Pin that does not have a back-link or take themselves to somewhere unrelated to the image. If the URL is missing, you can add it under the edit menu for the pin. Also add the URL in the description area. And by providing a link to the pin’s original source, your pin is automatically more valued.

7. Put This Guide Into Action !

Your last step is to put this guide into action. You will not see results until you apply this strategy to Pinterest. If you follow these tricks, Pinterest users won’t be able to stop themselves from pinning your content! You will see dramatic improvement on your website traffic and have much more Pins than ever before. We also must remember that every time an image of ours gets Pinned we get back-links, which is a other bonus.
